An area of Low Pressure sitting in the Atlantic will push a series of weather fronts Eastwards across the country bringing a spell of heavy rainfall to many areas. The rain could be quite consistent across Western parts of Scotland, Western England, Wales and South-West England bringing a risk of flooding.
Orange Zone: Persistent heavy rainfall is likely to lead to localised flooding problems. Rainfall totals of 20-30mm, locally 40mm in the space of a few hours is expected to cause disruption.
Yellow Zone: Rainfall is unlikely to be as persistent or as heavy in these areas, however minor flooding is a possibility in areas previously flooded in the last month or so. Rainfall totals ranging between 15-20mm, locally 25mm could cause disruption due to standing water.
Further rainfall is expected during the next week as low pressure systems continue to track closer to the UK.

We only had 2″ of snow yesterday morning but it has pretty much all melted overnight in the torrential rain we had last night. Temperature here is currently +7c in Brigg, North Lincs with lovely blue sky. Shame, I only got to play in the snow with the Land Rover for an hour before it was already turning to slush, got some nice photos though. The temperature change was quite impressive, quickest thaw I’ve seen for a while. I’ve still got my fingers crossed for some more snow, maybe later in feb? it has been known to snow as late as April here so we have a while yet before we can rule out any more cold and snowy conditions I think. What do you weather forecasters think – what are the chances of another decent snowy spell?
