Weather Warnings

Valid: Saturday 14th July 2012

Issued For: Heavy Rainfall, local thunderstorms

Highlights:

  • Slow moving frontal system leading to prolonged rainfall
  • Weak CAPE & LIFT generating localised thunderstorms

Forecast Detail

Through the course of Saturday morning and into the afternoon a slow moving frontal system across Southern England will allow heavy rain to develop, due to the weak CAPE & LIFT we could see some localised thundery downpours mixed in, particularly across South-East England and into the London area. Rainfall totals in the region of 5-10mm are expected with local falls up to 25mm may lead to some localised flooding.

Additional Forecast

High Pressure is expected to build across the United Kingdom early next week bringing some drier, settled weather across Southern parts of England and Wales, further North across Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland are likely to hold onto the showery weather. A more detailed summary and outlook will be posted in the next couple of days.
