Colder air is now in place across much of the United Kingdom and through the course of Sunday evening overnight into Monday a weather front pushing Eastwards will see rain turning increasingly to sleet and snow across Scotland and Northern England.

I’d expect any snowfall to lower ground would turn back to rain a short while after but it could remain as snow across higher ground. The charts below show the progress of the weather front as it moves Eastwards and where the snow is most likely to fall.

Accumulations of 3-5cm down to lower levels cannot be ruled out however I’d expect it to melt fairly quickly, accumulations of 5-10cm are likely across higher ground, particularly across Scotland.

Further South I think it’s likely to be an all rain event.
